Permission to Pause

I’ve been working in the entrepreneurial world for almost a decade now and in that time I have always positioned my business to put God in the driver’s seat. I only pursue projects and goals that I feel He is telling me to do (and I stop when I no longer feel led to do so). With that comes the permission to pause at times, and I was recently reminded that is also a luxury. Far too often we do a thing because we’ve always done a thing without asking ourselves if we should still be doing said thing…

I want to give you permission to pause and to ask yourself, in THIS season of life, what should I be working on. And then go after that vision and purpose with fierceness! Recently, I’ve taken a step back from the business world for 2 key reasons but the first being I didn’t feel led to do any particular thing. When I do not have clarity around what I’m supposed to do, I pause and wait to hear from God on what’s next for me and my business life (really all areas, but especially business).

The 2nd reason was rooted in busyness vs productivity. I found myself doing things just because I’d created a certain cadence to my business life, but not because it was what I was truly purposed for ((in that season)). So…I stopped and honestly I’m glad I did. Being outside of alignment can be a dangerous and costly experience, because you cannot say “His will, His bill” if you’re not operating within His will for that season of your life.

With that being said…the pause has allowed me to come back with a clear purpose and intentionality towards what God is calling me towards in this season. And for that I’m grateful. And in the words of the great Sheree Whitfield, “I am back, back, back, back, back…again!”
